A Sail Through Time

Looking for an alternative class outing? Well, we have it! Since 1991 Great Lakes Schooner Company has been hosting some of the largest onboard student and educational programs anywhere. Last year we carried over 5000 students on an exciting, interactive educational experience.

When you step aboard one of our Tall Ships, you and your students will be entering another world. There is a new language to learn, navigational instruments to discover, along with the names of the sails that catch the wind to power the vessel. On the program students will

• hear about Maritime, Toronto Harbourfront, and Great Lakes History.
• assist the crew in sailing the ship as they work together raising and lowering sails.
• spend time with the captain at the wheel driving the ship.
• test a Toronto harbour water sample.
• calculate water depth and boat speed using traditional techniques.

The crew customizes each program to meet your group's needs, as they travel through and learn from the different ship stations. This program provides a hands-on experience that your class will never forget.
